What is the step by step process of getting acrylic nails?

I'm getting acrylic nails for the first time in 2 days %26amp; I really want to know what to expect.. (Detailed answers please)

So what are the steps of getting them? From the moment you sit in the chair til they are finished what does the tech do?

Thanks to anyone who answers! What is the step by step process of getting acrylic nails?
Too many steps involved to type in. So, just watch this video. This is how they are supposed to be done:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Omon9ccUK鈥?/a>

I can tell you some things to look out for. One is never let a nail tech use a drill on your natural nail. As you saw in the video, only a gentle hand filing is needed to remove the shine off of your nails for proper adhesion of the acrylic to your nails. If you are paying like $15-$25 for a full set, the chances are quite good you are going to a place we nails techs commonly refer to as 'discount' salons. These places are the ones that will more often than not use a Dremel drill on your natural nails. A drill should never be used on your natural nails, ever. And, a Dremel is NOT made for use on nails. But they use them anyway. Do not let them do this. If they do, just leave and find a better tech to do your nails. For more info, watch this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rlmptKm4鈥?/a>

Also, the full set should take at least an hour - or more to complete. Discount salons skip many steps and do it in about a half hour

Remember, nail services should NEVER hurt, or cause you any pain at all - not during, or after you get your nails done. If they are causing you ANY discomfort, leave there immediately. That is a sign of an unqualified, unskilled tech.

Another thing they do - and you need to watch out for this - is that they will usually use dirty files and sanding bands on you which have also been used on other dustomers. This is an easy way to get a nasty infection, or even a disease. Also, look out for them using implements such as nippers which have not been properly disinfected. Do they pull them out of a drawer, where they are stored with other dirty tools? Or do they take them out of a disinfectant solution, wipe them, and then use them on you? Do not let anyone use dirty implements on you. Also, when they use any files on you, look at them closely before they start to use them. Do you notice any white color dust on them? If so, they have been used on others already. In short, they are dirty, and this is against the law in most states. Discount salons do not care one bit about the law, or about you either. They just want your money. Period.

Choose your salon/tech carefully. Your health is at risk. I'm quite serious about that. Watch these for more info. This is no laughing matter:

And never, ever think about getting a pedicure at these places. If you watched the videos, you will know why. What is the step by step process of getting acrylic nails?
it will probably go something like this -

they will file and buff your nails, then cut a small piece of material to place on top of your nail, glue it down, put some more goop or gel on top of that, and file it down until it is smooth. Most places use a machine drill type of thing to help file it down to make the process a little faster, and the nails smoother. Then finish with the polish.

I just posted a question about the Light-Concept manicure. If they offer it by you, maybe you should look into it. It does not damage your nail supposedly like regular wraps / acrylics do. I never had that done (light Concept), so I am curious about it as well.
they complete mess ur nails up underneath. they get soft, yellow, and thin

What are the acrylic nails that get bigger at the tip called?

I'm refering to how some women get their nails done and the tip gets bigger as it goes out. I also was wondering if there is a proper name for stiletto nails (the nails that become skinnier %26amp; pointier towards the tip.) thanks in advance. What are the acrylic nails that get bigger at the tip called?
They are called flared nails. And yes, stiletto is the proper term for the other nails you described.

How do you remove glue from the back of glue on acrylic nails without disolving the nail?

i always buy glue on acrylic nails from places like Target and Big W and wear them for a couple of days. when i take them off, they are still in really great shape and i would like to reuse them. The only problem is they have dried glue on the back of them and don't stick very well.

is there anyway i can get rid of the glue WITHOUT dissolving the nail?

NOTE: i do not have them done professionally i glue them on myself. How do you remove glue from the back of glue on acrylic nails without disolving the nail?
If you mean the fake nail you can buy anywhere i use them alot i have them on now and i just reuse them you can try a safty pin and pick at it but that might ruin the color on the front of nail thats what i do cause i paint my nails wit designs and stuff but some times it works and other times it doesHow do you remove glue from the back of glue on acrylic nails without disolving the nail?
The fake nails your are describing are not made of acyrlic they are a resin plastic. THey will disolve and crack if you use acetone even non-acetone. Sorry but they are a temporary thing, throw aways and only mean to be used once, maybe twice. THe build up of glue will not come off. The only think I can think of is to use a professional electric nail file but then you still run the chance of filing them to thing or cracking them. Gluing them on yourself is economical but then again is it really. Treat yourself and go get then done professionally. You won't have to worry about them for 2-3 weeks before having them filled in. Also if you do, make sure you go to a reputable professional salon not the everyday run of the mill, on every street corner nail salon. If you do you'd be better off to glue them on yourself.

  • Do you need to be a trained nail technician to advertise doing acrylic nails and nail art?

Some countries don't require you to have a license. I'd call your local cosmetology school and check.

You should get some professional training either way. Being a nail technician isn't just about doing nails. You have to know about diseases, treatments towards certain nail conditions, and proper disinfection.

If you practice without training and you cause someone to get a bacterial infection on their nail, they could sue you. If you receive proper training, not only will you decrease the chances of that happening, but you'll also be able to get insurance.

Also, if you don't have anything to prove that you are trained, you won't be able to get many high quality professional products (CND, Calgel, etc). Store bought nail products aren't that great, and they cost a lot more.Do you need to be a trained nail technician to advertise doing acrylic nails and nail art?

How long do Acrylic nails usually last?

If put on professionally at a spa, how long do they last before falling off/chipping?How long do Acrylic nails usually last?
As a nail technician myself, they are supposed to be filled every 2 weeks. It can be different for everyone though. And as long as you go to a highly professional establishment that uses good quality product, you should not have really weak and thin nails after getting them done. If you do, it means you should spend a little more money and go somewhere nicer.

Again, if you're going somewhere with highly experienced nail techs that use good product and methods, they should not hurt to be put on. Do not go to the cheap places in the malls just because they are cheap. Their cleanliness is questionable and they are known for causing pain while doing your nails. How long do Acrylic nails usually last?
I can tell you from personal experience. I have had Acrylic nails many many times and you will have NO worries about them falling off or chipping. They are next to impossible to ever get off when you want them to. The only downfall would be having to have them filled every couple of weeks.

I can personally guarantee that Acrylic nails are 100% easier to manage than Gel nails. Not to mention that when getting Acrylic nails applied, they dont' have to file down your nail beds until they are almost gone. 1/2 hour for an application of Acrylic and 2 hours for the Gel. With Acrylic they just scratch up the surface of your existing nail to make the Acrylic nail stick.

    I hope this helps you!
mine lasted over a month ..they just start looking bad when you nails start growing out but you can get them filled so they look like new again! Just be warned if you already have nice healthy strong nails you shouldn't get them because after you take the acrylics off your nails are thin and weak and I hated it ..now they are strong and healthy again but it was a nightmare!
well, i just got mine done a few weeks ago and they lasted about two weeks, but if you want to keep then on longer just buy the nail polish top coat and but it on your nails once a week and they should last a another week. (just if your wondering revlon is having a sale at longs buy one get one free!) this offer is good till 9/27/08 Good Luck!!!
for sanitary reasons.after 2 weeks it is recommended that they be refillled because they can start to lift a little, moisture will get into them and you might get an infection.

They should be completed removed and a new set put on after 2-3 months.
About a week or two depends on how active you are and how quickly your nails grow. After though your nails are much weaker and you would of been better off just growing them out by going to the nail salon every week getting your natural nails done and healthy
it depends on weather you use water allot usually they last about 2 weeks to a month but that also depends on where yo get them done water will make them come off faster though that doesn't mean don't wash your hands use allot of lotion though also
well they could last something like 6 weeks(ask the nail professional when you get them done) if you never get them filled, which is when they fill the gap of growth every two weeks.
about 2 weeks, though afterwards your nail bed is sooo brittle... they look really good, but when they come off you have really ugly nails.
usually a week for me before they need to get filled and repaired.
like 1 to 2 weeks then after that they look like trash... i had mine on for like a month once it was ugly but i couldnt take them off :)
about a week and a half.

Why do my acrylic nails look orange instead of pink?

I just got them done, even before I even left the salon, my nails looked orange, I wear the white tips. Should I go somewhere else? Why do my acrylic nails look orange instead of pink?
I have never come across this before...go back to the salon and ask them to put it right. Did they put your fingers under a UV light? To be honest it sounds like theyve used out of date products or something but I wouldnt be happy and would want them off. As a nail tech I couldnt send a client away with less than perfect nailsWhy do my acrylic nails look orange instead of pink?
poor thing. i would definetely find a different salon to go to. the product that they use on the top of the nail may be different, and may cause discoloration of the nail. im sorry you have to suffer with orange nails though :(. if i were you, i would go back to that salon and demand a refund!
Yah defiantly go somewhere else!!! I mean unless they have the best prices in town and never did anything like that before.
ew yea.... orange??? tht is wrong and it probably means the nail polish is old or 2 exposed to air
yes, orange is not good, should be pinkish.

What type of nail polish remover do i have to use to remove Acrylic nails?

What type of nail polish remover do i need to take off Acrylic nails? and how do you do i really need your help. i am really scared. thanx for helping. What type of nail polish remover do i have to use to remove Acrylic nails?
First of all you need to buy {Acetone} polish remover.

Make sure it does not say non-acetone!

    Things You'll Need:

    * Plastic garbage bag

    * Acetone polish remover

    * Petroleum jelly

    * Nail buffer

    * Nail clippers

    * Glass bowl

1} Find a good work area where you can sit down and be comfortable. A kitchen table works perfectly for this. Be sure to cover the surface of your table with a plastic garbage bags and a thick layer of newspaper to soak up spills and prevent damage to your table鈥檚 surface.

2} Using a pair of nail clippers, cut the acrylic nails down as short as possible to make the removal easier.

3} Fill a glass bowl with nail polish remover (the type with acetone in it). This will be used to soak your nails in and dissolve the nail glue which attached your acrylic nails to your natural ones.

4} Before dunking your nails apply a coating of petroleum jelly to the skin surrounding your nails. This will help prevent the skin from drying out while soaking in the polish remover. Just be sure you don鈥檛 get any on the nail or it will block the polish remover from loosening the glue.

5} Dip your fingers into the bowl of nail polish remover and continue to soak them for 15-20 minutes.

6} Remove your hands and try to gently peel the acrylic nails off. If you are met with resistance and any or all of the acrylic nails do not easily peel off, submerge your fingers in the polish remover again and soak for another five minutes. Never force a nail to come off if it鈥檚 not ready.

7} After re-soaking you should be able to remove any stubborn acrylic nails and will now be left with only your natural nails.

8} Thoroughly was your hands in order to remove any polish remover residue and the petroleum jelly.

9} If any of the nail glue remains on your nails, simply buff this off with a nail buffer. Be gentle and use a light touch to avoid damaging your natural nails.

10} Apply a moisturizing hand cream to your hands and massage in well. This will help replace any lost moisture from the acetone polish remover. What type of nail polish remover do i have to use to remove Acrylic nails?
Soak them in Acetone for 20-30 minutes and it should help dissolve or peel off.. No worries.

What is the shortest that the people at a nail salon can cut acrylic nails?

I want to get my nails done but I play piano so they can't be that long. I really want acrylics too. So I was thinking that I could get acrylics and just have the people cut them really short, but how short can they cut them? What is the shortest that the people at a nail salon can cut acrylic nails?
They can cut them all the way to the tips of your fingers.

i asked for that and they did it wrong so when I got home I filed them. Now I like them. What is the shortest that the people at a nail salon can cut acrylic nails?
You can get them cut really short..short enough for piano. They'll probably be less likely to chip or snap because they're so short, as well as be pretty!!
you can just have them put acrylic put on your reg. nails but probably ask the person first probably how ever you want not sure ask the nail tech first
    ask them....
They can cut them as short as you would like. However I used to get really crazy stares when I aske to have them cut all the way down. You can also just ask for an acrylic overlay if you just want to keep your natural length and just strengthen your nails. if you have one that is broken they can add a tip if you need it. HTH!
Why would you want acrylics if you just want them cut all the way down? You can have them put a layer of acrylic over your own natural nail and have them do a white tip on there if your own nails aren't strong enough. If you really want the white tips, or acrylics than just tell them that you want them ';sport short'; and they will cut them down to that length. If its still to long then have them filed down..Really not to difficult.
they can do it as short as you want!!! u tell them the lenght.
they can cut them any length you want them....but i would advise you that if you have a little length already you should just get an overlay on your natural nails vs getting tips or sculptured nails....

How can I take my acrylic nails off by myself?

I'm 13. I'm sick and tired of all of the up-keeping I have to do for them to maintain them to look good. I'm sick of it! I'll spend my money on better things then nails. People aren't going to remember me for the kinds of nails I had, but for the kind of person I was!

How can I take them off myself? How can I take my acrylic nails off by myself?
Easy as pie. Go to a beauty supply store and grab a cheap bottle of acetone. It's the active ingredient in the nail polish remover; more concentrated levels will dissolve the acrylic as well. I would caution you though, you have to be patient. You'll need to have the nail completely saturated with the stuff long enough to get it off. It's smells to high heaven too.How can I take my acrylic nails off by myself?
DONT pull them off like someone else suggested, you'll just ruin your natural nails. Go to the drug store, and there is a special remover for acrylic nails (it should be right beside the nail polish remover). Sorry i can't remember the actual name. I'm not sure where you live, and some products look different (i.e. packaged differently). My 'remover' was a little plastic container which you unscrewed the top off, and it had a sponge foam soaked with the liquid remover. All you have to do is soak each finger and it pulls off the acrylic nail (without harming your own). Hope you find it!
    well im also a teen; and i totally know where your coming from. i mean they take FOREVER to get off;

anyways; what you can do is soak them in hot water w/ soap and then either bite them off; OR; take nail clippers sissors, etc. and prie them off.
Whatever you do, DON'T pull them off!!! That might rip your actual fingernail off and it will hurt like crazy. I think you will have to wait until your nail grows out and then the nail will fall off.
Just Pull em as hard as you can

ONE BY ONE, ONE AT EACH FINGER...GLUE IT WEL !!!LOLWhat is the best way to put on acrylic nails at home?
    Use a nail gun
You just have to follow the directions on the box. I suggest having someone help you. It is not an easy task to do by yourself.
read the direction that come w/ it. its very easy. i am not going to type it all out for you since you have it in your kit already. if not, check out their web site from the brand that you got it from and should some where on their has the format. i am sure you have the rough idea on how they go on. its very easy. i do it all the time to myself and to others.
Use acrylic hammer.. Works every time.
have someone check to make sure they are not crooked
if u want them to stay on longer buff the shine off your regular nail and when u glue them on make sure no air bubbles appear between the nails. this could cause a nail fungus if air bubbles are present. put the acrilic on thin and evenly.
i like arlic nails but they are sharp and pointed and harmful!

How do i use acetone to take off acrylic nails?

I had to soak mine in pure acetone and I still had to peel them off it hurt good luck
You pour it into a small bowl and soak your fingers in it. After awhile it will loosen the acrylic nails and you'll be able to take them off. The acetone is found in nail polish remover.
I just had to do this last month...so here it goes: you pour a generous amount of acetone into a ceramic/glass bowl and soak your fingertips for about 10 minutes. Then you shimmy an orange cuticle stick (wooden stick with a wedge shape on one end) into one of the edges of the nails near the cuticle and start to gently push the acrylic nail off. It is mildly painful and timely but hopefully when you're done you'll be pleased.
i tried doing that but i found that it just made things worse..the nails melted and i soaked them for 5 hours n they wudnt come off...the best thing to do is get it removed professionally cuz chances are where u gt it they have the stronger acetone or just wait until they fall off..mine fell off aftr 3 weeks from getting dem done

    hope dis helped:)

    Or gel nails?

Also which is more damaging: Gel or acrylic? How much damage does acrylic nails do to your nails?
Acrylic is WAY more damaging than gel - and way poorer quality.

    Gel hardly does anything.

I know that people will say that gels pop off easier, but honestly they wont come off until you want them to come off.

acrylic on the other hand could stay on for 2000 years considering how bloody hard they are to get off, and they do extensive damage to your nails in the process.

I've found that the easiest, least painful, and inexpensive way of removing acrylic nails is soaking them in nail-polish remover. Just put a little bit of nail polish remover in a small bowl and soak your fingertips in it for around 10 minutes. Then gently scrape them off... The nail-polish must contain acetone. It will soften up the nail. Either scrape them off with your hands, or with a nail file, which is what I use. Hope this helped! :)What is a good way to get acrylic nails off without paying to get them taken off or damaging your nails?
    Hi,

You have to soat your nails in nail varnish remover which contains acetone. Acetone dissolves the fake nails and then you can file them down. Wash your hands well after to get all the acetone off. Your nails will probably be a bit week so you should put on nail strenghtener or clear varnish for a bit.
acetone or nail polish remover (acetone works best b/c it get's them off quicker)..u can get it at pretty much any beauty store . just pour the acetone in a medium sized glass bowl, clip the tips of your nails off %26amp; soak in the acetone until the acrylic is dissolved . good luck !

    :)
sadly even when you pay to get your nails taken off they get messed up theres no real way around it just rip those bitches off.

Well, I had this same problem and it just tore my nails up so badly. The best thing to do is go to a professional and have them remove them..because if you try to do it yourself, you'll probably make your nails very brittle and ugly. lol but if you have to do it yourself, use the strongest acetone nail polish remover you can find and soak your nails until theyre soft and easy to come off. then file down the surface of your nails to make them smooth again and put on clear polish that helps make them strong again. Best of luck to you on that and your new job!!!

soak them in nail polish remover w/ acetone for a bit then rub them with an emory board/nail file to remove the loose acrylic and repeat. you may be able to go to the beauty supply store (ie Sally's Beauty Supply) and by plain acetone...it'll work faster.
soak them in nail polish remover they should come off. (the nail polish remover has to have acetone in it)
Soak your nails enhancements in pure acetone , no polish remover, to cover the nail, for 20 to 30 minutes, or as long as needed to remove the enhancement product. use a wooden or metal pusher to gently push off the softened nail plate. Avoid removing the enhancement out the acetone, because the product get quickly reharden. making them more difficult to remove.

What is the proper way to trim down acrylic nails?

I have had acrylic nails for several years and I routinely visit the nail salon every three weeks. The problem is that I am taking the CA Bar Exam next week and my nails are feeling a little to long to allow me to type as fast as possible during the exam. I have an appointment at the salon the day after the exam, but I need to trim them down a bit for the exam itself, and I wont have time to get into the salon.

It really doesn't matter if they are pretty, but I would prefer it if they didn't crack or snag on things. Would normal clippers and a file work? Or, I was also noticing that my clippers for my dog's nails are similar to the clippers the salon uses, would those work just to trim them down a bit?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)What is the proper way to trim down acrylic nails?
I'm assuming you aren't going to grt them filled before the exam.Whatever you do don't use nailclippers. It will crack the acrylic. All you need to do is get a file and buffer and just file the acrylic down then make sure you buff the endsWhat is the proper way to trim down acrylic nails?
Use a fingernail file, that's what I always use, regular clippers may crack them and I don't know if I'd use the dog clippers.
Please do yourself a favor! I took the bar exam myself; you will be stressed out enough!! Take 30 minutes, walk into a nail salon , have them cut and filed!!! You don't know me, but you will thank me!
Maybe you could just file them?
Yes, use your dog's, that one is similar and the nails won't crack like using the normal clipper. Then, file them, after that buff them and shine. Wear a light color enamel.
    go to the nail salon
DO NOT try to file them yourself. You can damage them or even damage your nail.

go back to the nail salon and have them trim it down for you. That is the best and pretty much only way
what i always do is just get a good file and cozy on the couch with your favorite show and file away, dont clip them with the wrong clippers bc it will crack the acrylic all the way down and you will be left with a horrible looking nail! but i think the dog clippers might work but just be SUPER CAUTIOUS! please, i hate it when ppl have raggidy looking nails. lol good luck
ACRYLIC NAILS CANNOT B TRIMMED TRUST ME DONT TRY IT! U HAVE TO GO TO THE PLACE WHERE U NORMALLY GET THEM DONE AND HAVE THEM TRIM OR REMOVE IT FOR U
use clippers to cut them down t natural length!

Here is a link that may be of some help to you in finding a top notch salon in your area. This is a salon locator, and it is provided by a company called CND (Creative Nail Design). This company has been providing the nail industry with top quality profesional nail products since the late 1970's. It also provides high quality training for nail technicians. In fact, all of the techs/salons listed on the salon locator page have been company trained, and certified prior to their placement on this list.

I looked up Australia in the locator. It lists the names, and the contact information of two CND distributors, and it advises people to contact one of them. They will be able to supply you with the names, and contact info for any good techs/salons in your area.

By the way, I have no association with this company, nor do I profit in any way by providing the link, or from your use of it - if you choose to do so. I am providing it strictly for informational purposes. Thus, I am NOT a spammer.

My nails are very damaged. Is there anything that anyone could recommend to get my nails healthy looking again. What product is good to use after having acrylic nails removed?
Poor you, you must have gotten them ripped off if they're damaged :(

    1. Solar Oil 3 times a day

    2. Polish with ';Toughen Up'; Base coat by CND

    3. Don't rip them off next time! Go to a properly trained technician and have him/her soak it off in acetone

Hope that helps %26lt;3What product is good to use after having acrylic nails removed?
Burts Bees lemon/lime cuticle oil. It's amazing, and smells really good. Then use a Sally Hansen Nail Repairer polish to top it off.

I just removed my artificial nails too. There are some great products that you can use to get your nails back to full health after freeing them from artificial nails/wraps/acrylics.

Nailtiques is a great brand to try. It's a bit pricey -- running between $7-$10 a bottle. I am using Sally Hansen's ';Nail Protex.'; That one's a bit cheaper -- running about $4 per bottle.

Both of these products are excellent, available in drugstores like CVS, and will help to strengthen and repair your nails back to where they were before artificial nails came into your life.

Believe me, I know what you're dealing with. I can say that I am very happy with the Sally Hansen Protex. Within three days, my nails felt thicker and stopped hurting from the artificial nail removal.

    Good luck!
use a filer, and file on the surface of your nails.

then get a clear top coat and paint it over :)
I just gotta say, thanks for this question, I can tell one of my acrylic nails is about to fall off any day now haha :D x

  • How do i take off acrylic nails?

I just got acrylic nails put on on Wednesday and i don't like them and am already sick of them. Does anyone know the best way to remove them without ripping out my actual nail? Thanks! How do i take off acrylic nails?
file them down and soak them in 100% acetone...works like a charm

it does take some time so...be patient

if you went to a salon and had them done, this is what you should do.How do i take off acrylic nails?
Soak them in acetone (pure) is best but also acetone polish remover._
soak them in hot water while slightly bending the nail for awhile
Soak them in Acetone/Nail Polish Remover... it'll take awhile %26amp; your nails will be paper thin, but they'll be off.
when i had to take my nails off all my friends said to just squeeze each side and pop them off. i stupidly listened and it really damaged my nails. what you are supposed to do is soak them, or you can go the the salon (they might charge to take them off though)
u have to go back to a salon %26amp; they remove them .
dip your fingers in a bowl of nail polish remover with acetone for about an hour.
Nail polish remover or acetone will soften the acrylics, making them easier to remove.
    soak in strong acetone solution

like a really strong nail polish remover
There is a solution that will take them off. A nail salon will be able to help you. If you want to do it yourself, check with a beauty supply house. They might have something there. Acrylic nails really aren't that good for you. They have to buff down the top of your original nails to make them stick.
my mom does that for a living and i always have them on. file them. it may take a while but its the only way to do it without ripping off the nail

How do I remove my acrylic nails?

I have all acrylic nails with white tips that I would like to remove. How would I do that without completely killing my nails? How do I remove my acrylic nails?
I don't know why so many people are so against removing them yourself. Nail salons don't always do a good job at removing any type of nail enhancements. Many will simply tear them off your nails with nippers or a plastic tip. You can remove them yourself safely, and easily at home.Be sure to use 100% pure acetone that has been warmed since heat makes the acetone work faster when using it to remove acrylic nails. Acetone nail polish remover will take much longer than pure acetone and non acetone remover won't work at all. The process is rather simple and straightforward. One thing that no one has mentioned is this: If your nails have a UV gel topcoat or sealer on them, you must remove this layer prior to removing them in the acetone. Use a 150 or 180 grit nail file and file this layer off. Gel is easy to file and it will take only a few minutes to remove from all 10 nails. Be sure not to file too much off as you do not want to take off any of your natural nails by over filing. Once this is done, you can soak them in the acetone. After about a full 30 minutes has passed, try removing the acrylic by gently scraping it off with an orange stick. Remove whatever softened acrylic that you can, and if there is some left on your nails, simply soak them for another 5 minutes or so and try again. It will eventually come off completely. Only do one hand at a time since the acrylic will harden quickly when removed from the acetone. A few words of wisdom for you: 1) Be careful with pure acetone. It is flammable, so don't use it near any open flames and don't smoke or let anyone else either while using acetone. 2) Always use an old towel of cloth to cover your work surface. That way, if some is spilled, it won't eat through the finish of the table or other surface you are working on. 3) Be sure to work in a well ventilated area because acetone produces some pretty strong fumes, and you don't want to be breathing these in for a long period of time. 4) Be patient. It will take a while to remove the acrylic. Don't be in a rush while doing this. Also, don't force it off as this will cause damage to your natural nails.

I hope this helps! How do I remove my acrylic nails?
Most pharmacies and supermarkets sell an at-home product specifically for removing acrylic nails. It basically 'melts' the acrylic which you can then buff off. It took me about an hour to do mine and my nails were left in pretty good condition. Also, most nail technicians can remove them for you.
The best way to remove them is to go to a nail salon and have them remove them. But that costs money and honestly coming from someone trained to be a nail technician, I wouldn't pay someone to do that. All you need is a glass bowl and some Acetone. You can buy Acetone at a beauty supply store. If you don't want to go buy that, you can use nail polish remover with acetone in it, it will just take longer. All you have to do is soak your nails in the acetone or polish remover with acetone for about 15-20 minutes. Your acrylics nails should then start to literally melt. You can take a hard piece of plastic and start to scrap the melted acrylic off the nail. Then re-soak them another 5-10 and scrap it off again. Repeat until it is all off. There will still some damage to your nail, but you can take a fine grit emery board and lightly smooth you nail a tiny bit at a time. Your nails will be thin so don't try and smooth your nails completely, wait a few days and smooth again.

The most destructive way to remove them is to just pop them off.
You should deffinitelly go to the salon that put your nails on %26amp; have them remove them, its usually one of the services they offer.

It should be relatively cheap, I would call ahead of time to make sure they can remove them for you, and if they cant ask what they would reccomend you do.

Good luck, and i hope i helped!
Well probably the best thing to do is to go to your nail salon and have them remove them. They'll do it without damaging your nails and i think it doesn't cost much, they charge me only five bucks to have them removed at the nail salon i go to. =)
Well the acrylic is already basically killing your nails.

You can soak them off with strong nail polish remover.

But your nail beds are already thinned out.
    don't do it by yourself.

you won't take all of them off %26amp; your hails will still

have little left overs of the cyrlics and look all

bumpy and bad. just get them taken off at the nail place.
Soak them in nail polish remover to soften them for removal.

Use a real good hand moisturizer to revitalize the nails.
There is an easy way. Soak them in pure acetone for about a half hour. It works perfectly

What is an alternative to acrylic nails?

I love having acrylic nails but I hate the drill! If you go to cheaper salons they use the drill- if you want your nails done by hand, you have to pay $$$. My hands hurt for a week after being drilled on, but I hate having hangnails every day so I have to have some coating on my fingernails. Does anyone know an alternative to acrylic that doesn't require drilling and that isn't crazy expensive? What is an alternative to acrylic nails?
Get a silk wrap, but it makes the nails very hard..so be careful.

You could also try gel nails, they are done without the acrylic, some sort of gel is used to create or put over your own nail.

Or just regular manicures...that could work. Make sure they are pushing back your cuticles, getting rid of handnails, and cleaning and massaging the nailbed.

Do acrylic nails damage your natural nail?

I am planning on getting my nails done for the first time for my 7th grade formal. I used to use plastic ones and they would ruin my nails completely. Do acrylic ones ruin your nails if you get them done. I heard that it's around $35 to get them done..is that right?Do acrylic nails damage your natural nail?
i have acrylics and they didn't damage my natural nails, i think it totally depends on the individual...if you were to go back to your natural nails it wouldn't take long for them to grow back because nails grow very fast.

plus, you probably wont wanna turn back. i love my acrylics.

and it depends on what you get done, but yeah it's around 35-45 dollars.Do acrylic nails damage your natural nail?
    No.

The nail technician damages your nail, not the acrylic.

If you go to a properly trained nail technician that wont use a drill on you, you should be fine. Also, when you get them removed, DONT rip them off because that will mess up your nails as well.

A lot of lazy salons rip them off, so be sure to find a place that will soak them in acetone for you.
    yes.

i did it once, and my nails were messed up when i took them off.

    the lasted bout 2 weeks.

they were 30 dollars plus three for my designs.
I don't think they would but your right abou the plastic ones. They are uncomfortable and ugly and totally ruins your nails. Glue stays on and hard to get off.

Can people who have chewed their nails to the cuticles get acrylic nails applied? Can people who have chewed their nails to the cuticles get acrylic nails applied to those nails?
Yes. There doesn't even need to be a nail. Acrylic can be built on skin if needed! I'm a nail tech and I have built toenails for a friend who doesn't have any big toenails (smashed in a mosh pit) Of course the nails could only built to the tip of your finger without tips. I know you soak them acetone, but will a nail polish remover WITH acetone work as well? Also, any tips and tricks for removing acrylic nails are appreciated.

Thanks. :)How do I remove acrylic nails at home?
Nail Polish remover with Acetone will work, but not nearly as well. And you'll have to soak them for longer.

I have removed my own acrylic nails a few times and they always hurt like hell!! To save on the pain, I would recommend getting them professionally removed.

But if you have to do it yourself, soak each hand in a small glass bowl of acetone and cover the bowl with a towel (helps to keeps the fumes down). Leave to soak for about 10 minutes. (It also helps to cut/file the nails down as short as you can and scratch them up a bit first). Then use a metal nail file to try and pry them off.

Good luck and I hope it's relatively painless for you!How do I remove acrylic nails at home?
yes, i use to remove them all the time with nail polish remover.
Soaking them in hot water actually really helps too.

What's the difference between gel and acrylic nails?

At a salon near by me, I can either get acrylic nails for $16 or gel nails for $25.

I haven't had either but I wanted to know whats the difference between them. Not just the fact that ones made out of gel and the other is made out of acrylic. What's the difference between gel and acrylic nails?
I've never had gel nails, but according to my shiny new cosmetology textbook, there really isn't enough of a practical difference to justify spending that much more. Gel is a newer technique, and it isn't supposed to smell as strongly as acrylics do during application, but acrylics are supposed to be a bit more durable. Gel also requires a uv light to set.

Of course, the best way to know the difference would be to ask the salon about it.What's the difference between gel and acrylic nails?
Acrylic is a harder substance. Gel is more flexible. My experience is that gel doesn't hold as well as acrylic.
try both and see which suits you better.

Soak them in acetone and then remove them when they soften. You could also go to a nail salon and they will remove them for a fee. What is the best way to remove acrylic nails?
Acrylic nails look great and can be a life saver for those with weak nails or nails that just won鈥檛 grow well on their own. But like all things, even wearing acrylic nails must come to an end eventually. Follow these easy steps to safely and painlessly remove your acrylic nails.

    Instructions

    Things You鈥檒l Need:

    * Plastic garbage bag

    * Acetone polish remover

    * Petroleum jelly

    * Nail buffer

    * Nail clippers

    * Glass bowl

Step 1 : Find a good work area where you can sit down and be comfortable. A kitchen table works perfectly for this. Be sure to cover the surface of your table with a plastic garbage bags and a thick layer of newspaper to soak up spills and prevent damage to your table鈥檚 surface.

Step 2 :Get all your supplies ready at hand. You don鈥檛 want to be hunting for them mid nail removal. Have them all spread out in front of you on the table.

Step 3: Using a pair of nail clippers, cut the acrylic nails down as short as possible to make the removal easier.

Step 4 : Fill a glass bowl with nail polish remover (the type with acetone in it). This will be used to soak your nails in and dissolve the nail glue which attached your acrylic nails to your natural ones.

Step 5 :Before dunking your nails apply a coating of petroleum jelly to the skin surrounding your nails. This will help prevent the skin from drying out while soaking in the polish remover. Just be sure you don鈥檛 get any on the nail or it will block the polish remover from loosening the glue.

Step 6 : Dip your fingers into the bowl of nail polish remover and continue to soak them for 15-20 minutes.

Step 7 : Remove your hands and try to gently peel the acrylic nails off. If you are met with resistance and any or all of the acrylic nails do not easily peel off, submerge your fingers in the polish remover again and soak for another five minutes. Never force a nail to come off if it鈥檚 not ready.

Step 8 : After re-soaking you should be able to remove any stubborn acrylic nails and will now be left with only your natural nails.

Step 9 : Thoroughly was your hands in order to remove any polish remover residue and the petroleum jelly.

Step 10 : If any of the nail glue remains on your nails, simply buff this off with a nail buffer. Be gentle and use a light touch to avoid damaging your natural nails.

Step 11: Apply a moisturizing hand cream to your hands and massage in well. This will help replace any lost moisture from the acetone polish remover.

    Tips %26amp; Warnings

    * Never force an acrylic nail off of your natural one. You risk damaging your own nail, or worse, ripping off your natural nail with the acrylic one.

Polish remover or hot water will not work. You have to use pure acetone.

Pour some into a glass bowl and soak for about 20 minutes. Use an orangewood stick to scrape off the loosened product. Soak and scrape until it's all off.

You will have to do one hand at a time. Keep the nails in the acetone when scraping as it will start to harden if you remove them.

If your acrylics have a gel overlay then you will have to file the nail to break the gel seal. If you don't, no amount of soaking will penetrate the gel.

You can use a very fine buffer after all the product is off to smooth out your nails.

    Good luck!
You just had them put on, now you want to take them off? Why? Whatever...Skip the nail polish remover. It's not strong enough. Use 100% pure acetone. Soak for at least a half hour. The acrylic should be softened enough by then to genthy scrape it off with an orange stick.
Let them soak in acetone for 20 mintunes and slowly lift them up, don't peel them quickly or you might catch skin, ouchie!

You can buy acetone at any beauty supply store.. Cut the nails down. Soak your nails in a bowl of acetone, and gently scrape the nails off. (they turn kind of mushy). After you have soaked them off, I would take a fine file and smooth out the top layer of your nail bed. Put a little bit of oil on your nails to give them comfort, as this really is a harsh treatment. If you pick or bite them off, you are taking layers of your nail with them. Your nails will become very weak this way.
The nail polish remover that you are using may not have acetone in it. The best way to remove them is to go back to where you got them done. If you must do them yourself, try using nail polish remover with acetone or get a bottle of acetone from the Beauty Supply store.

Do not peel them off as this causes extensive damage to the nails and nail beds. Soak your fingers in the acetone and use an orange wood stick to assist with lifting the nail off.

    Here's a link to a great site: http://www.carefair.com/Beauty/Nails/Rem鈥?/a>

    Good luck!

Polish remover or water will not remove them.

Get pure acetone and pour some in a glass bowl. Soak the nails for about 20 minutes. Using an orangewood stick scrape off the loosened acrylic. Soak and scrape until it's all off.

You can only do one hand at a time.

Don't bite or pry them off! That does so much damage to your natural nails.

If the nails have a gel overlay you will have to break that seal. Use a nail file for that otherwise the acetone will not budge that product on your nails.
Acetone doesn't work you have to pull them off..

I am sure that the salon told you that you can not take them off you have to wait.

I am also sure that they told you that they can not take them off either

My daughters had theirs done and the salon told them they had to come off on their own .They also told them that they the salon could not take them off..

Tried the acetone did not work
Soak them for a little while, then file them down. Then soak them again, then file them again. Repeat process until nails are gone...a real pain in the you know what, but it'll work. Good luck.
    Haha this is funny.

Ok I always take my acrylic nails of by biting them sideways so they crack down the middle then you can pull them off.
bite and suck until they come off them file the top of your nail until all the glue is gone then paint them a cool color because after filing the top they'll be a little white!
I have taken them off with nail clippers it does hurt a little. Best way go to a salon and have them do it.
    acetone finger nail polish remover
Thats the only way or go back to where you got them put on and they can remove them for like $5.

How do keep my Acrylic nails to last longer?

Don't really want to go every 2 weeks to keep them up? Is there anything that I could do to keep them looking nicer longer? How do keep my Acrylic nails to last longer?
The only thing you can do is possibly re-coat them with the polish and or clear coat to make them shine again. But the whole point to going is to get them re-filled

When you first get them done you need to go more often but I have found after 3-4 months or so you can stretch it to about 3 weeks,

Either way you need to keep up on hte maintenace cause if you get water or humidity under the artificial nail it can and will create a fungus that sometimes can damage the nail forever and it will never grow back the same. How do keep my Acrylic nails to last longer?
well two weeks is the norm and you really can't make them last any longer because your nails grow and that's why you always need them filled. but make sure you just be careful with them
If you have to get them done every two weeks to get them done, you're probably not going to a quality place. I have haid acrylic nails on for 15 years and go once a month to get filled. There is no way to make them last longer because your nails grow. But I prefer the acrylic sets NOT the tips. Tips always break easier for some reason. The actual acrylic that they paint on a form is thicker and holds up better. (I waitress part time too - that is tough on nails!) In New York there are Volpe salons which are a little more expensive, but I think are better quality then the salons at the malls. Hope this helps.
    grow your own
Try getting the Gel Nails, they last much longer than the regular acrylics. I switched to those because of the same reason you said and I can go for about 4 weeks. They still look nice if you polish them with clear polish. They are better for your really nails too. They cost alittle more that the regular ones. I like them better.
    Don't keep them on
where rubber gloves at all times, and keep them out of water by all means

acrylic nails-applied using acrylic powder and liquid

gel nails-applied using a clear, gel like substance then set under a UV ray light

my mom's a nail tech %26amp; she has applied both to my nails..i would go with acrylic because they're a lot stronger %26amp; easier to take off. to me, gel nails were beautiful but didn't hold up for long . they won't ruin your nails..u just have to take care of them %26amp; remove them properly (soaking in acetone) . good luck!

:)What's the difference between gel nails + acrylic nails?
i would actually get solar. i've had nails on for about 3 years and solars work really well. acrylic nails tend to turn yellow after a while but solars don't. solar ones stay on for a while- i've gone a month without getting a fill and they've stayed on. solar nails also come off by soaking your nails in acetone.
I heard gel nails are pretty hard to get off so go with acrylic all you have to do with acrylic is soak your nails in acetone with a towel over your hands and they should come off
i just had acrylic mails on and some of the tips of my real nails tore off and it runed my nails so i would go gel

Get some non-acetone nail polish remover and put in a plastic bowl. Then soak your nails until they come off easy!

There might be some glue left on your nails, so just take a cotton ball or something and rub the glue off. What is an easy way to remove acrylic nails at home?
Well, what everyone else tells me is to normally soak them in some nail polish remover and then they loosen and they call off your nails or something like that. But what I normally do is take some pin, like a safety pin anything. And I start to go around my nail and I peel off the acrylic nail and it starts to pop off and you just pull it off. You don't feel a thing trust me it sounds weird and sounds like it would hurt but its your nail and your nail doesn't feel a thing. I can finish taking off all ten of my acrylics by doing that just in ten minutes.
the very best thing to do is to soak your fingers in acetone. you have to do this for about 30min and it loosens and starts to eat away at the nail. if you are going to use nail polish remover make sure it has acetone. and it may not work very well w/just nail polish remover. if you find acetone, make sure you put it in a glass bowl.
Soak them in nail polish remover.
I geuss you could find a super-strong nail polish remover, and just soak your nails in that. Unless you find special remover for acrylic nails.... But, otherwise i reccomend going to a salon to get them removed, 'cause it would be a pain if you messed up!
Ouch acrylic nails are very hard to get rid of. The way I do it is I put them in polish remover and let them soak for a couple of minutes this will soften them and make it easier to take off.

Can I get my acrylic nails filled in if they are lifting at the cuticles?

I've had my nails on for a week and 3 days, and they are starting to look bad. They're lifting and they are french manicured so you can see it easily. Can I get a fill right over the lifting or must they remove them and put a whole new set on?Can I get my acrylic nails filled in if they are lifting at the cuticles?
It depends on the nail technician, but I would file down the area that is lifting to almost the natural nail, put something on the nail to dry it out and prevent bacteria and then fill over it.

I usually have to get a fill done every 10 days because my nails grow fast, but you shouldn't be lifting already

How can you tell the difference between acrylic nails and gel ones?

I think i might have the gel ones but im not entirely sure what the difference is. Do they both start in the powder form? How would I know which ones i have on me. Thanks! How can you tell the difference between acrylic nails and gel ones?
I think they both look terrible. Here's something consider: Hospitals will not allow workers or doctors to wear them because they harbor bacteria. Yeeewwww! How can you tell the difference between acrylic nails and gel ones?
acrylic start in the powder form and have a sort of dim look to them before they are painted...gel on the other hand starts off as gel and before they are painted have a nice shine to them.......i have acrylic at the mo but tomorrow I'm doing them gel..........i like that better....xxx
You probably have acrylic. Gel costs a little more and you would have to ask for it!
Gel usually starts as a gel. The acrylic is a powder they mix. Gel is a lot softer, and can usually soak off, and break easily, but they look a little nicer than acrylic (at least in my opinion) mostly because they are not as thick. Especially if you are looking for something which looks more realistic/natural.
they are done exactly the same but gel ones dont look as thick as the acrylic ones. you have to be more careful because they arent as strong as acrylic... so they may need replacing quicker x
No acrylic start with the powder and the gels start as gel and they put then under a UV lamp
gel nails are not as hard their more fexible. They are eaiser to soak off.
I have gel nails and they do not start off as a powder. Gel looks exactly like a clear hair gel in a pot. The use a tiny brush to apply it and not the big acrylic brush.

Gel nails are more flexible and are the most natural looking fake nails you can get. After they apply the gel, you have to put your hands under a UV lamp in order to cure or harden them.

You would definitely know if you had UV gel nails because it makes your nail beds burn as the UV light is hardening them. They are hella more expensive than acrylic nails. An acrylic set may run you as much as 60 bucks in an expensive place and gel nails are over 100 dollars.

How much should a full set of acrylic nails cost?

And what services should be included with that? It seems like the cost of a full set varies pretty widely where I live, and I don't know why?How much should a full set of acrylic nails cost?
Anywhere from $30.00 and up. It should include pushing the cuticles back and nail polish and a topcoat. It is usually extra for airbrushing or french nails. How much should a full set of acrylic nails cost?
    about $20 plus the tip
    no more than 25
Most charge around the $60 AU, this includes full set of tips and acrylic overlay, buff and polish. Nail art is usually extra. Infills are usually $34-$40

I charge $45 for full set of acrylic nails and I include as above full set of tips, acrylic overlay, buff and nailpolish.

infills cost $30 which is required every 3-4 weeks for maintenance

You can get the temporary nails that only last a week or two at a fraction of the price if you only want it for a special occasion
I have paid anywhere from 15 dollars to 25 dollars, I finally found someone that does a good job, they charge 20 dollars. Shop around till you find what you want and like.
It should be about $20. That's the average..
If the price is too cheap, they aren't using good product. Good acrylic liquid is over $200 a gallon. The cheap stuff is about $20 a gallon and can cause a host of problems (its called MMA, you can google it)

My prices are $55 for natural color full set, $65 for pink and white. I'm very experienced and do great nails but I live in the middle of the country and I know people on the coasts charge more.
they should only be about $25
    50 cents.

What are the best acrylic nails to buy?

I cant afford to get them done at a salon and come back every week to get them filled. I know they sell them at the store, I don't know if they are as good but I was wondering if anyone knew a good brand of acrylic nails to buy?

Not the cheesy ones that fall off. What are the best acrylic nails to buy?
Are you looking for the actual acrylic that you mix and brush on yourself like they do in the salon? Or the glue on types?

As for actual acrylics: any brand will work the same as any other... takes a bit of practice to get it down right, so be prepared for your first 2-4 sets to look like crud until you get it down.

As for glue-ons, I've used the ';natural deceptions'; (I think that's what they're called) an the ';real life short'; ones... liked them both, but the natural deceptions lasted longer. :) They actually looked like real fingernails with a great french mani, and not like overly faux looking acrylics. What are the best acrylic nails to buy?
The cheapest way still get your nails done in salon .

You will be supprised how expensive the products will be when you buy them .

futher more your times is your money ,It is not worth to spend 3 hours do your nail by your self (plus dust , smell , $15 for products ) while you can get your nails done in salon for $25 .

The best is find the good asia nail salon , if they do good you dont need to come back get fill for upto 1 month . we have some customers even not come back for 2 months and their nails still look not bad.

well but if you still want to try the best acrylic nails powder : Creative .

OPI just good for color not for Acrylic powder.

    Good luck.

What is the difference between gel and acrylic nails?

I've always just gotten gel. Are there any pro's and con's?What is the difference between gel and acrylic nails?
Acrylics are powder and liquid mixed together and applied onto the nail. They air dry very quickly.

Pros: They are harder than gels, so if you want super long nails, they would probably be the best choice to go with. They're also quicker to have done than gels, and can be removed by soaking them in acetone.

Cons: They're heavier, they yellow, shine disappears quickly, and when your nails grow out, the gaps really stand out.

Gels come in a pot, filled with a honey like substance. They use a flat brush to apply a coat onto your nail, and then harden it under a UV light.

Pros: They're lighter, stays shiny, no yellowing, gaps don't show as much (assuming that you have french or clear). They're also not as thick so they look more natural.

Cons: The traditional (most common) gels can't be removed in acetone, so you have to get them filed off which takes a long time and it can easily damage your nails if removed improperly.

Neither system is ';better';. It just really depends on what the person's needs are. What is the difference between gel and acrylic nails?
Good choice! Gels are much better than acrylics! Gels have been around for about 5 years, so a lot of older techs haven't been educated on this product! Gels are hypo-allergenic, and they also keep a permanent shine unlike acrylics. The only down side to gels are that you have to get them removed professionally while acrylics can be removed at home. I strongly advise not to pick at any products on your nails as permanent damage can be done to your real nails. I have had gel nails for almost a year now, and I love them! it helps that I'm a nail tech, and have all the supplies at home :)
Acyclic nails are tougher in my opinion but they definitely damage your nails WAY more...I got them once and when i took them off i had ridges in ewww it was so weird..
Sometimes there are blindingly obvious answers to issues like this nevertheless maybe not this time.
I don't even know what gel nails are but I get acrylic one's and I love them!

  • How long does it take to get acrylic nails on professionally?

And how do they do apply them? And what are they made of? And how much do they cost and how long do they last?

haha i really don't know anything about them

so just tell me all you know about them :)

thanks! How long does it take to get acrylic nails on professionally?
Your appointment will run about an hour. Generally you'd get tips put on. They do this by cutting your natural nails very short and glue the tips on. Then they apply acrylics (a mix of acrylic powder and some chemical) to the tops of your nails in order to cover up the ridge left at the top of the tips. Just tell the person doing your nails you've never had them before; she'll let you know when she needs you to do something, like go scrub your nails, how to hold your hands so it's easy for her to work with them, and she'll let you pick out your nail polish (if you arrive to your appointment early you can go ahead and be looking at her polishes so you don't waste her time trying to make a decision). I'd recommend you go to an English speaking nail tech at first so you can communicate easily. Depending on how fast your nails grow, you'll need to go back for fills. This is the removal of any lose portions of the acrylic nails, gluing down of other spots, filing thinner of the acrylic nails, then filling in the gap at the top of your nail that has formed because of nail growth. You should know you can get fungus growth if you don't keep the acrylic nail bonded well to your natural nail, and never, never decide to remove the acrylic nail by ripping them off - it demolishes your natural nail. Be sure this is an expense you can support on a regular basis as you'll need to go back about every 2 weeks. They are thicker than your natural nail but if you have thin nails it's wonderful to not have to worry about breaking a nail; you become accustomed to doing whatever you need to do with acrylics. They also bond to the nail polish better than natural nails so you don't have to polish nails every few days. Hope you enjoy them! How long does it take to get acrylic nails on professionally?
they are essentially plastic, just like the cheap things you you can buy from the store and put on your self, but when you get it professionally done, they use a type of gel that makes them hard and permanent , but will make your nails pretty thick, so things like putting on earrings, picking up coins or small flat things are difficult...they can range from 25-45 bucks, you can also get silk acrylics which are more durable, thinner, nicer but more expensive...you will need to get them done about every two weeks or sooner...they really aren't worth it...just get some of that sally hansen nail strengthener/growing/thickening or whatever stuff, it works pretty well, then maybe just pay the 15 bucks to get a french manicure
usually about 45 min. to an hour.. it depends where you go :D

How do I protect my nails after removing acrylic nails?

I went to this nail place and they did a terrible job and the acrylic nails all came loose so I removed them. I know I should of gotten them removed and replyed professionally but I thought I could save some cash by doing it my self. They are now very thin and sharp. A girl friend said I should leave them to breath for a week before getting them redone.. How do I protect them in the mean time?

I have a pretty physical job and I am afraid of tearing or braking them. How do I protect my nails after removing acrylic nails?
You shouldve confronted the person about the nails in the first place, they wouldve fix it for you.. My mom owns a salon so i know. They wouldnt have charge you for fixing it cuz the person obviously cant do their job right. Just remember you're the one thats paying, so speak up and tell em. For now use a nail strengthener... hope this helpsHow do I protect my nails after removing acrylic nails?
There is nail polishes made for reconditioning nails after artifical nail removal, but since you are trying to cut cose. I would buff them, put cuticle cream nightly, and just let them grow back. If you're job is very physical you may want to rethink having fake nails.

What is the quickest way to remove acrylic nails ????

I need to remove a set for a friend and we don't have much time !!! Any quickTips would be very much appreciated . I am trained with creative but looking for any tips from anyone elseWhat is the quickest way to remove acrylic nails ????
My daughter is a nail technician and she has a machine that you put acetone in and when you switch it on it heats it up and agitates it,with the machine you can get them off in half an hour.

Without the machine, warm the dish of acetone in the microwave for a few seconds, then soak the nails, every few minutes file the softened acrylic off....its easier if 2 of you do it because you can keep one hand in the acetone while your friend is filing the other one.

This way it will still take about 45 mins to an hour.

There is no quicker way I'm afraid. What is the quickest way to remove acrylic nails ????
if you can get to a pharmacy, buy acetone and soak them in it bofore peeling them off
    With a rubber clawhammer.
    easy rip them off..............
You really should go back to where you got them done as you are going to ruin the nails. The only way is to soak them for ages or, use nail polish remover that contains acetone xx
I hate to say it, but I don't think there IS a quick way. Whatever you do, don't peel them.

Try using industrial strength acetone (ie: from the hardware shop) and warm it before use. Soak the nails in it, or alternatively soak cotton wool ball in it, cover each nail with one and wrap in foil. This helps to speed up a bit.

You can also file the softened acrylic a bit, then soak again,a and repeat. Whatever you do, don't file the natural nail.

Even doing this, it took me about 2 hours to get mine off.
bottle of gin and a pair of pliers
My daughter had acrylic nails fitted during the school holiday, when it came time to return to school we ended up taking her to a salon to get them removed. I think they used some solution that had to soak into the nails to make them soft so they could peel them off.
You should be able to get these nails off safely in about 30 mins, with pure acetone and a good file. When you soak acrylic, it becomes soft and rubbery, and you can safely push off with an orange stick, and then file. Keep at it, soak, push off excess, and file, and you'll have them off in no time.
The quickest way is to go to the salon!!! I got some remover from a well know auction site(!) but it still too ages to soak them off, soaking in nail varnish remover sometimes does the trick and if you look by the false nails in the supermaket they have removers too.

No matter what you do though your nails still look rough and weak afterwards!

    Hope this helps x
Don't just try to rip them off unless you don't care about damaging your real nail beds. Best way is to use pure acetone and soak them. They should come completely off in about 2 to 3 hrs.

How do you get acrylic nails off?

I bought acrylic nails @ Claire's w/ nail glue. It tells you how to put them on but not how to take them off. It says use acetone free nail polish remover to clean your Natural nails before hand. How should I take them off? How do you get acrylic nails off?
Soak them in warm water for 10-15 minutes. Buy a cuticle trimmer and and get them off with that after they have been soaking. It's pretty easy if the nails are grown out long enough for a fill. I like this way much better than using acetone because it doesn't irritate my hands. I usually get a completely fresh set of nails every 4-5 months. How do you get acrylic nails off?
    Soak them in soap water.

But for a really long time and keep washing with soap.

If that doesn't work try to but nail polish remover around it.

I have acrylic nails but i get them off in a nail saloon, much easier.
Just soak them in acetone. It'll make them soft enough to ply off. I can get a big bottle of the stuff from ULTA for about $4.00. They also have it at CVS and Sally's.
You have to go to a salon to them off. If you do it yourself it hurts REALLY badly
get them removed at the salon.

How do you get acrylic nails to come off?

I know I can go to the nail salon and have them remove them for like ten bucks.

I've had them before and I usually just pull them off, but I was curious to see if there was a different way? Like some kind of solution to use? I dont know! How do you get acrylic nails to come off?
Pure Acetone...Put your hands in that, and let them Soak for a 20 minutes. How do you get acrylic nails to come off?
You should go to a nail salon and get them taken off professionally but other than that:

Soak them in Acetone(or nail polish remover) for at least half an hour then file them off if you can and it doesnt hurt too much try picking or ripping them off but i would suggest away from that cuz it can split ur nail down the middle. So soak and file then soak again and file again continue until it's gone but if u file too much it will think out ur nail and it will hurt like a muffin the next day! Going to a nail salon is ur best bet and after u get it taken off get a manicure done and it wont look bad!!!
this is crazy im taking mine off as we speak, you see once you have them on for 1-2 weeks you will start to notice the corners of the nails are starting to come off if you think it is time to take them of fill the sink with warm water and dip your hands in slowly take that nails off and you will feel no pain .. if you are not up for the commitment ever think of drug-store nails?

If I have acrylic nails and I want to change the polish, do I need a different kind of nail polish remover?

I'm not much of a girly girl, and I just wanted to look nice, so I got myself a full set of acrylics. I work for Starbucks and the bastards won't let me have my nails painted for work. I want to remove the nail polish, but I remember hearing that something in the nail polish remover does **** to the acrylics. Any help?If I have acrylic nails and I want to change the polish, do I need a different kind of nail polish remover?
Don't use acetone nail polish, it'll dissolve the nails. If I have acrylic nails and I want to change the polish, do I need a different kind of nail polish remover?
You need to get a polish remover that does not contain acetone. This chemical is very strong and will ';melt'; the acrylic. You can get non-acetone polish remover most anywhere i.e. Walgreens, Target, Thrifty Drugs....probably even the supermarket.
I don't think they really have the right to not let you paint your nails. 0_o

tell them it's your belief, you can do anything if it's your belief. xD
You should try to remove the acrylics. I've never heard that nail polish remover damages them, but if you heard that then don't try to remove the color.
DO NOT USE ACETONE!!!!!!!!!!! It will start to dissolve the acrylic and turn them a chalky white color. Nasty.
    A better and easier way for you to completely uninstall any unwanted application that standard Windows Add/Remove Program can\'t remove.%26lt;

Non-acetone should work, and then you can polish right over the acrylic nail.

    Good luck!
Yes, you need non-acetone remover, as opposed to acetone.
It is best to use non-acetone polish remover.
    dont use acetone.

that will desolve the acrillic and turn ur nail yellow.
Starbucks sucks!!! yeah just dont use acetone remover on your nails. itll take um off.

Is there anyway to remove nail polish from acrylic nails without removing the acrylic off of the nail?

i want to re-do my nail polish on my acrylic nails without removing the nails, or going to the nail shop.Is there anyway to remove nail polish from acrylic nails without removing the acrylic off of the nail?
Non acetone nail polish usually. But, I use pure acetone daily on my clients (I'm a nail tech) and I have yet to damage any acrylic nails with it. It works so much better and faster. Plus, it won't be on the nail long enough to cause any damage to it. Just be fast, and don't let any sit on the nail for any longer than absolutely necessary, thats all.Is there anyway to remove nail polish from acrylic nails without removing the acrylic off of the nail?
If you get a non-acetone nail polish remover it won't mess up your nails. Just use it like like you would with the regular nail polish removers(cotton balls...).

How to treat my damaged natural nails after I just took off acrylic nails?

I used to get my nails done all the time because they looked so elegant and cute, but my nails, like yours, got really damaged. What I used was Sally Hansen Maximum Growth. It helped repair alot of the damage in my nails and it made them stronger and healthier. How to treat my damaged natural nails after I just took off acrylic nails?
Check out Bath And Body Works for a nail kit that includes a nail buffer system, a nail file, cuticle oil, and lotion with Dead Sea salt. I just recently purchased one, and after 2 weeks, my nails still look like they've just been buffed. Unfortunately, with all the stuff I do around the house, my finally growing nails chipped and instead of filing them like I should have, I bit them off, but THE BASE STILL LOOKS GOOD!:D

What is a good way to take off acrylic nails without too much damage to my own real nails?

Every time I get acrylic nails and take them off they end up really thin and ugly. Is there any way to get the least damage as possible? What is a good way to take off acrylic nails without too much damage to my own real nails?
Most of the reason that your nails end up thinner after application of acrylic nails is that the top layers of your nails are buffed off in order for the acrylic to adhere. Once those layers of your natural nail are removed, there is no way of replacing them, because the nail that you see has already been formed. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this except time for your new nail to grow out. To make your nails feel better in the mean time, make sure that you use hand lotion often, after each time you expose your hands to water. You can also use a more intensive cuticle moisturizing cream or oil to really concentrate on moisturizing your nails, which will encourage healthy new growth. What is a good way to take off acrylic nails without too much damage to my own real nails?
try wiggling the nail from the side until it gets loose, then just take it off

if u dont want damage to ur nails, then wait until they come off on their own
I always have hated when that happens. I think that the best way to do it is to go to the nail salon and get them removed or get a different color. You could also take them off your self with Acetone nail remover and it takes a while but it is better than peeling them of (and much less painful) and then take a base coat or a top clear coat of nail polish and it will make your nails thicker

    hope this helpz =]
You could either go to a nail salon and pay for them to remove them or you can use nail polish remover WITH acetone to remove them. The nail salon will do the same thing essentially. The acetone destroys the acrylic that keeps the nails on.
    use warm acetone
hi there i have calgel nails and to remove them you have to soak cotton wool in acetone and put it over the nail, then cover the nail with tinfoil. the heat helps to speed up the process. do one hand and leave it for about 20 mins. after this the nail should just lift of without destroying your own nails. you could try this for acrylic nails. not sure if it will work but worh a try.
Go to the nail salon to let them do it.
soak them in some nail polish remover that has acetone in it, it may be hard to find because so many dont use it anymore because its a harsh chemical. You can also use warm water but it does not work as well. After you take them off put some lotion on your nails and if they are not too thin you can file the tops.
No lie, the corner of a credit card or gift card... you know those plastic rectangle cards, lol? Yeah, those work good to peel of the acrylic without too much damage.

  • Whats the difference between gel and acrylic nails meaning which is a better option and why?

I use to get acrylic nails until someone told me about the gel nails....I think gel nails are better they seem stronger as far as breaking and when you need a fill they tend not to show as much as acrylic's do!!! Not only that but I smudge nail polish soooo bad!! And with the gel..once your done your done you don't have to wait for them to dry..and if you get the french tips they do it then put a layer of gel over which is really nice, because your nail polish doesn't rub off on the edges it stays there until you go for a fill which with gel you can go every 3 weeks instead of 2!!!!Whats the difference between gel and acrylic nails meaning which is a better option and why?

If I only wear the acrylic nails for two weeks, will my natural nails be really damaged?

I got my nails done on Monday. I had really nice, thick, long nails. If I keep the acrylic nails on for two weeks, will my nails be completely damaged? Will my nails not look that bad? Will my nails recover quickly since it is only two weeks? This is my first time having acrylic nails. Please help me. I'm just really worried that my nails will take months to recover. If I only wear the acrylic nails for two weeks, will my natural nails be really damaged?
    Nooooo!!

    Stop worrying honestly!!

As long as you dont pull the acrylic nails off and you either let them fall off or soak your hand in warm water untill they fall off then your nails will be fine!

However i wouldn't get them too often because if you have them alot it can damage your natural nails. :)If I only wear the acrylic nails for two weeks, will my natural nails be really damaged?
Yes, your nails will be damaged. When getting acrylic or any kind of artificial nails, they file down the thickness of you natural nails. Once you have the artificial nails removed it takes a lot of time for your nails to grow to where they are healthy. You will need to find a nail strengthener that actually works and some stuff to promote your nails growing quickly. After I had acrylic nails for about 1 month(I couldn't stand them), I went through quite a few products to try to make my nails grow and strengthen them, because a lot of them don't really work well. Its more of a hit and miss on which products will work for you.
It doesn't matter how long you keep them on. The problem is that they adhere so firmly to the natural nail that you are bound to lose some of the surface of the nail when removing the acrylics. Your natural nails will have to grow back from the root before they look healthy again, and it can be very tender and painful. So be prepared to keep them or destroy your current natural nails.

Wearing them for extremely long periods of time (years of getting them filled) can eventually cause your nails to be weak and thin, and they may never be sturdy again.
It really all depends on who did your nails. The damage caused by acrylic comes from the nail tech. If you went to a budget nail salon where they use an electric file to file your natural nail and where they use cheap products, then yes, your natural nail will be damaged. If you went to a quality, reputable salon where a qualified professional did your nails, then the damage done should be very minimal if any.
Really its not a matter of how long you leave them on for. What ruins your nails is putting the plastic on top of them with super glue, covering that with acrylic, then ripping them off 2 weeks later. Ya, you can use acetone and nail remover to try to get them off nicely, but in the end, you will have to pull the nail off of your natural nail, causing damage. They will recover--once that whole nail grows out and fresh nail grows in.
How damaged your nails are after wearing acrylics depends on the condition of your nails before you put the acrylics on.

First, have the acrylics removed professionally or allow them to fall off. Do NOT pull them off.

Then, us a protective nail polish daily until your nail condition improves. I love Sally Hansen Hard As Nails.

I also use Nutra Nail 5 to 7 Day Growth Protein Formula. I have thin, brittle nails and this treatment makes them grow quickly and strengthens them at the same time.
Weeeeeeeeellll, its surprising to me that they stayed on that

long, but this could go yes or no, but i dont know for sure but

i would have to say yeah they will be some what damaged because

having fake nails on just for like a week hurts them because the

nail cant breathe so, yeah i think so. maybe not months though.
They won't be damaged per say but they will be thinner on the top and thicker where they have grown in. It doesn't look very nice. Try buying fake ones at the drug store and using a lot of the nail glue they provide. Have very clean nails to start with and don't do anything that will make them come off, cause they come off pretty easy.
If you get the place where you had the put on take them off it won't damage your nails at all. I've had acrylics off and on for years and they only damaged my real nails if I broke on, just be careful and they'll look great. Though, I have to ask why did you get them on if you only wanted them for 2 weeks? Just seems like a waste to me.
Ok ......... DONT WORRY!!!! I do this all the time! The longer you leave them on and the more you go and have ';fills'; done the more they will be damaged. Period. However,When you go to take them off DONT PULL THEM OFF OR GO TO THE SALON AND HAVE THEM TAKEN OFF. Just let them grow out but buff the top lightly! Go out and buy ';solar oil'; its awesome for the nails. Rub that in at the cutical everyday. Once the acrylics come off cut them short and just keep putting that oil on your natural nailbed.
the damamge to your nails comes from when they put the acrylics on. they use a buffer with a really rough grit paper to file off part of your natural nail, making them much thinner and suceptable to breakage and tearing.

if you dont want to damamge your nails, i recommend that you skip the fake ones
when you get your nails done they actually sand your natural nails down so whatever damage you have is already done, it won't matter how long you have them on. you have to let your nails be natural and completley grow out again to get them back to normal sorry :(
yes they will be damaged whether you have them for 2 days, 2 months or 2 years. the damage is from how they file your nails with the rotary tool. if you take the nails off, your nails will be thin and damaged until they grow out
Mine were pretty damaged after I took off my nails, and I only had them on for a few days. But I have really thin nails to begin with. I just cut them short, and filed the ends. Then took of those nail buffer things to the tops. They don't look too bad now.
unless you got solar nails, they could get damaged. i would definitely not try to pull them off. but regular acrylic will damage your nails no matter how long you have them on. but they will grow back and be like they were before!
Depending on if they filed the nails down or not, it may take a month or two. Don't pull the nails off! Buy some acetone and put your nails inside a bowl of it. Let it soak, and they should come off easily.
I had my acrylics on for like three weeks and when I got them off they were kind of damaged, there was like some glue and stuff. But I painted over them and it took like a week to recover.
If you peel them off then that can damage your nails. Make sure that when you take them off you use a nail hardening cream. Always do that and your nails should stay healthy. Also give them some time to re-grow between manicures.
They are already damaged. They damaged them when they put them on. When you take them off you're going to have to grow them completely out to get rid of the filed down nails that you will have left.
    Don't be worried!

Your nails will be fine, BUT, if you continue wearing acrylic nails your natural nails will turn yellow, become weak and brittle. :)
i GET THEM ALL THE TIME . IT ALL DEPENDS IF THE PERSON IS DOING ARE PUTTING THEM ON RIGHT AND ARE TAKING CARE OF YOUR NAILS . YOUR NAILS WILL BE FINE.

PS: USE CRYSTAL NEXT TIME THAT MAKES YOUR NAILS LONG AND THICK

    TRUST =D
    it will be damaged..

it takes quite a while to recover

just for ur whole nail to grow back

    that's what happened to me

it's a little painful at first because ur real nails become more sensitive
well it just depends......sometimes the acrylic nail can get dirty underneath, and cause fungus on the original nail bed, just be careful not to pull them off and wash your hands a lot
your nails will proably not be in the condition they were before, but they shouldnt be completely damaged.
i think so because of what they do to your nails b 4 they put the fake ones on.....they use that drill thing and everything taking layers off the natural nail
you nails will might turn yellow and the top layer of you nail will go away
no my mom has fake nail and her regulaar nails are fine but dont rip off the fake ones or it will rip off the real ones
I would've just gotten a regular manicure if you have pretty nails! Stupid Idea!
no just be careful when removing them
no they will be fine as long as you let the fake ones come off on there own time don't try to pull them off
    Yes.
