How are acrylic nails removed at nail salons?

I have acrylic nails and they are at a point where they need to either be refilled or removed. Last time I went to a nail place to have them removed some chinese guy just shoved another fake nail under the acrylic and literally ripped them off!!!!!!

Is this what they are supposed to do professionally? It wasn't pleasant. And I paid for someone to rip my nails off!!

I had tried removing them at home, soaking them in acetone but they never would come off. Any advice on the ones i have now?How are acrylic nails removed at nail salons?
at the one I go to the soak your fingers in Acetone(it's just like nail polish remover) for a while, then file them down, soak agian, file again and then they pop right off.

Trim them down real short and soak them in acetone. Then try to wiggle them loose a bit. Then soak again until they come off. That's the only thing I can thing of today besides popping them off with your teeth, which can be painfulHow are acrylic nails removed at nail salons?
You need to use ACETONE to get them off...

im a nail tech %26amp; we can only cut and drill gel nails off, they dont melt in acetone, and acrylic nails...... you need to soake a cotton ball in acetone wrap each cotton ball to each nail wrapped in foil and put under a lamp, the heat %26amp; acetone melts the acrylic, then file it off, do not rip them off and what he did wwas not professional, but it works dont complain when you goto the cheap asian nail places, if you want good nail care pay to goto a spa.. you get what you pay for dear!
When I got mine removed, the lady was simply lifting them with tweezers and cutting the gel piece by piece. It wasn't very pleasant so I suggest you try doing it at home.

Find a spot that is not strongly attached to the nail and simply work from there using tweezers. Of course, you should soak your hands in hot water beforehand.
The way to do it, Is to Soak your hand in Acetone for 10-20 minutes, then take a Orange wood stick, and push on the softened nail to get them to come off.

But if you have Gel nails, The only way to get them off is to buff 'em layer, by layer.
yes at salons they r supposed 2 soak your nails in a solution then lightly remove them and also instead u can get the Kiss Artificial Nail Remover solution. I have bought that before and it works really good.
