How long does it take to get acrylic nails on professionally?

And how do they do apply them? And what are they made of? And how much do they cost and how long do they last?

Your appointment will run about an hour. Generally you'd get tips put on. They do this by cutting your natural nails very short and glue the tips on. Then they apply acrylics (a mix of acrylic powder and some chemical) to the tops of your nails in order to cover up the ridge left at the top of the tips. Just tell the person doing your nails you've never had them before; she'll let you know when she needs you to do something, like go scrub your nails, how to hold your hands so it's easy for her to work with them, and she'll let you pick out your nail polish (if you arrive to your appointment early you can go ahead and be looking at her polishes so you don't waste her time trying to make a decision). I'd recommend you go to an English speaking nail tech at first so you can communicate easily. Depending on how fast your nails grow, you'll need to go back for fills. This is the removal of any lose portions of the acrylic nails, gluing down of other spots, filing thinner of the acrylic nails, then filling in the gap at the top of your nail that has formed because of nail growth. You should know you can get fungus growth if you don't keep the acrylic nail bonded well to your natural nail, and never, never decide to remove the acrylic nail by ripping them off - it demolishes your natural nail. Be sure this is an expense you can support on a regular basis as you'll need to go back about every 2 weeks. They are thicker than your natural nail but if you have thin nails it's wonderful to not have to worry about breaking a nail; you become accustomed to doing whatever you need to do with acrylics. They also bond to the nail polish better than natural nails so you don't have to polish nails every few days. Hope you enjoy them! How long does it take to get acrylic nails on professionally?
they are essentially plastic, just like the cheap things you you can buy from the store and put on your self, but when you get it professionally done, they use a type of gel that makes them hard and permanent , but will make your nails pretty thick, so things like putting on earrings, picking up coins or small flat things are difficult...they can range from 25-45 bucks, you can also get silk acrylics which are more durable, thinner, nicer but more expensive...you will need to get them done about every two weeks or sooner...they really aren't worth it...just get some of that sally hansen nail strengthener/growing/thickening or whatever stuff, it works pretty well, then maybe just pay the 15 bucks to get a french manicure
usually about 45 min. to an hour.. it depends where you go :D
